We offer a 2-day workshop run by an experienced labour lawyer showing you how to prepare & present your case for unfair dismissal at the CCMA or Bargaining Council.
The course covers the following practical issues & you are welcome to BRING YOUR EXISTING CASE to include as a practical exercise for the group.
You don’t have to be a lawyer to:-
• Understand the CCMA processes - difference between conarb, conciliation & arbitration and how to prepare for these processes
• Check if your 7.11 & 7.13 referral forms are completed correctly to avoid delays and legal arguments or objections such as points in limine being raised
• Analyze your case for procedural & substantive unfairness - determining your merits & understanding the legal issues
• Collect relevant documentary evidence & compile your bundle of documents
• Prepare your evidence statement
• Determine your witnesses (if any) & prepare relevant evidence questions for them
• Understand
   & prepare cross exam questions for the company/respondent’s witnesses
• Prepare yourself for possible cross examination questions from the company/respondent
• Prepare a brief opening statement & a more detailed closing statement showing what you have proved.
The course includes practical exercises where you draft your own evidence statements, evidence questions and cross exam questions for your case. Caroline White, who is an experienced labour lawyer with 17 years’ experience, is running the course. She has also appeared on various legal TV programs such as rights & recourses and Noeleen’s talk show. She has lectured at various conferences & corporate training sessions.
The course is run in Ferndale, Randburg. It is run over 2 days from 09h00 to 16h00. A comprehensive manual is provided & light refreshments. The special rate is R1500 for the 2 days (R750 per day).The groups are normally between 10-20 people. It is essential to book & pay promptly as this is a popular course and your place is only secured on payment. There is a maximum of 20 people per course.
